Week 26

I am finally in my third trimester! Woohoo! Wow! I can't believe it!

I have had a pretty tough week this week. On Monday, I had a pain in my lower left abdomen that got continually worse as the evening went on. Tuesday morning I told Tom that I didn't think he needed to go to work and instead needed to take me to the hospital. I had this pain all night long and laid in bed thinking of all the things that could be wrong...not a good idea

I got worked into my doctors office on Tuesday. I was checked out to make sure I wasn't dilating and therefore in labor. No worries. The doc said I was definitely not in labor. But he sent me for an ultrasound just to make sure everything was ok.

The ultrasound was good. They checked my ovaries to make sure there weren't any cysts and also checked on the baby. I did ask if she could tell yet if he was big. She said he was measuring about a week and a half farther along than I actually am! I knew he was going to be big! She said as of right now they won't change my due date, but that could change if he keeps getting bigger!

I was told to rest for a week and the pain, which I was told was round ligament pain that was more severe than what I had before, should go away. It is much better now. Only hurts a little and I am hoping that tomorrow it will be gone completely!

After leaving that doctor's office, I had to go to the neurologists office for an appointment about my carpal tunnel. That was an interesting experience! I had to have a nerve test, which was surprisingly painful! The woman who did it told me it would just sting a little, but not actually hurt...I think she was on crack! It hurt like hell!!

The result was the doctor told me I have moderate to severe nerve damage in my first two fingers on my right hand. He seems a little surprised by that. He told me to come back in four months and we will see if it has gone down since the delivery. So I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do until then...just deal with it and hope it doesn't get any worse, I guess.

Then to add to my wonderful week, I wokeup this morning with the worst crick in my neck. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the pregnancy, but I know that I have never had one hurt this bad before!

I am SERIOUSLY falling apart!

On a much better note...I had my first baby shower last weekend! It was so great! My cousin-in-law threw the shower for me and she did a wonderful job!

Here are some pictures from the shower!

Here is the table. It's so pretty! You can't see it in this picture, but the cheese is cut out in little ducky shapes! And the cupcakes have little toppers that say "It's a boy" and the letter G! I just love it!

Here is the ducky cheese!

Here is my mom and Rachel (the hostess) making the "Pregatini" drinks!

Yes, they made me measure the belly!

Me, Andrea and Courtney...my two best friends!
Presents:

T-shirt from my Aunt Lynn! Very appropriate coming from her! She also got Griffin his first pair of Air Jordans!

My pretty Mommy! Mimi-to-be!

My cousins-in-law! Rachel and Misty!

This is one of the bumpers of the bedding that my mom bought for us! I love it! You can't really tell, but it's lime green with paisleys, chocolate, and royal blue!
Definitely the "biggest" gift that I got was from my dad and Carolyn. They got us ALL of our nursery furniture! The crib, dresser and hutch, and glider and ottoman. They were printed on paper that I unfolded. I was so overwhelmed when I realized what they were that I couldn't stop crying.

I got all kinds of great gifts! Thank you to everyone who was there! I love you all very much!

Rachel put everything back in the bags they came in and when I got home Tommy got to open them! That was fun!

I had a great time at this shower and I cannot thank Rachel enough for everything she did! I am blessed to have the friends and family that I do!

25 Weeks

It's amazing to me how fast, yet slow the process of "creating", or baking a baby goes. Fast yet slow!

What To Expect When You Are Expecting has this to say about Griffin's progress:

At nine inches and more than a pound and a half in weight, your baby is taller than two juice boxes stacked one on top of the other, and almost as heavy as four of those little boxes (an analogy you'll find particularly apropos in a few years, when those juice boxes start taking over your refrigerator, your pantry, your car.…). Don't look now (as if you could), but your baby's skin is turning pinker. No, not because he or she's getting overheated (in fact, the amniotic fluid is perfectly climate controlled, keeping your baby at an always comfortable temperature), but because small blood vessels, called capillaries, are forming under the skin and filling with blood. Later this week, blood vessels will also develop in your baby's lungs, bringing them one step closer to full maturity — and one step closer to taking that first breath of fresh air. But at
25 weeks pregnant, those lungs are still very much works in progress. Though they are already beginning to develop surfactant, a substance that will help the lungs expand after the baby is born, the lungs are still too undeveloped to sufficiently send oxygen to the bloodstream and release carbon dioxide when he or she exhales.

The lungs aren't the only system that's gearing up for air intake. Your baby's nostrils, which have been plugged up until now, are starting to open this week. This actually allows your little one to begin taking practice breaths. (Of course since there's no air in there, your baby is really only "breathing" amniotic fluid, but it's the practice that counts, right?)

Wow! How incredible! What a miracle it is that is going on inside me!

I finally got my camera working again! Yay! So now I have some past pictures that I have to put up.

This is my 21 week bump.

Here is my 22 week bump.

This is the "mommy view"! I said goodbye to my feet a long time ago!

Here is my bump now! 25 weeks!

(please pardon the nasty mirror! That's what happens when the hubby has his own bathroom and that's the only one that has enough room to take belly pictures.) :)

Week 23 & 24

So much has been happening lately! First of all, we have decided on a name for our little guy! After much deliberation, we have decided he is going to be

Griffin Lee Weatherington!

Yay! We love it! Griffin is my mom's maiden name, and we thought it would be a really cute name for our son!

Now I am ready to start working on the nursery! That won't happen just yet though! I have started doing a lot of sewing lately. I finished a fabric book and another blanket for Griffin! I love sewing stuff for him! I am working on another blanket for Griffin that's kinda really for my mom! She picked out some fabric that she loved and wanted me to make a blanket for her...err um, for him.

I plan on putting pictures up of this stuff, but right now my camera is out of service. So as soon as that gets working again, I will upload pics! That's also why I haven't had any belly pictures on here lately.

I do have one belly picture that was taken yesterday by a friend of mine. Just prepare yourself for this! Here is my 24 week picture!

Wow!! That is one big belly!! It reminds me of when I was a kid and I would put a ball under my shirt and pretend I was pregnant. That is really a basketball under my shirt!

Another exciting thing that happened is that Tom finally got to feel the baby kick!!

We were laying in bed one night and the baby was kicking like crazy so I had my hands on my belly and felt him, so I grabbed Tom's hand and put it on my belly too. We laid there fro a while then finally he felt it!! It feels like a little thump that comes from inside my belly! It was so cool!! I was so excited!

Now Griffin has started kicking like crazy!! I joke that I think he will be a Ninja when he comes out! He's our little ninja baby!

Week 22

It seems like I am growing more and more every day! That's good I guess, because that means my little boy is growing too!

Starting with the 5th month thebump.com stops giving fruit descriptions every week and changes it to monthly. So I have had to find another source for how big the baby is and what's going on.

Thebump says this month he is the size of a papaya!

Watch what you say -- baby is now able to hear outside noise from down in the womb. Studies show that baby finds gentle music and your own voice most soothing. Nipples are starting to sprout, and that little face is fully formed. And, baby's starting to settle into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop.

I think I have felt him move a few times, but not too much yet. I can't wait until I can really feel him and mostly, when Tom can feel him!

The other source I found for what's going on with the baby is the What To Expect When You Are Expecting website. This one is a lot more detailed than thebump.

Here is what they say is going on this week.

Guess what? At 22 weeks pregnant, your baby has finally broken the one-pound mark. How heavy is that? Hold a one-pound box of sugar in your hand the next time you're in the grocery story (and expect people to ask you why you're grinning from ear to ear). Is the box eight inches long? That's about the length your baby is too! This week, your sweetie is making more sense of the world as he or she develops the sense of touch. In fact, your little one's grip is quite developed by now — and since there's nothing else to grab in utero, he or she may sometimes hold on tight to that umbilical cord (don't worry — it's tough enough to handle it).

The sense of sight is also getting more developed. Your fetus can now perceive light and dark much better than before (even with those fused eyelids). But remember — unless you're shining a flashlight over your belly (which you can do, by the way), it'll be mostly dark for your baby inside that cozy womb of yours.

Moving up from the eyes, the eyelashes and eyebrows are well formed now — and even more hair is sprouting atop that cute little head. You'd be quite surprised, though, if you could see your little one up close and in color. Hair at this stage of fetal development has no pigment, so it's bright white.

Awww... my little pound of sugar!! haha I love it!
